Centerpiece "jardinière", Altenloh, Brussels, circa 1900, sterling silver

🇬🇧Lovely Louis XIV style centrepiece  in solid 950 % silver from the famous Altenloh workshop (1878-present) in Brussels.
The decor and shape are inspired exclusively by the Louis XIV style.
The silversmith used a technique known as "applique" as we know it from these  beautiful beakers from the beginning of the eighteenth century.
The edge of the planter is decorated with large gadroons to finish the whole.
The centrepiece  weighs 1530 grams without its hammered brass interior.
The planter without it's brass interior can also be used to present bread or as a large fruit bowl.
Very high quality object manufactured by this famous supplier of several European royal courts who had a shop on the prestigious Place Royale in Brussels.

🇫🇷Ravissante jardinière de style Louis XIV en argent massif 950% de la célèbre maison Altenloh (1878-aujourd'hui) à Bruxelles.
Le décor et la forme sont inspirés du style Louis XIV. L'orfèvre s'est servi d'une technique dite "à appliques" fréquemment utilisée sur les belles timbales du début du dix-huitième siècle. Le bord est décoré de larges godrons.
La jardinière pèse 1530 grammes sans son intérieur en laiton martelé.
La jardinière sans le panier intérieur peut également servir pour présenter le pain ou comme coupe à fruits.
C'est un objet de très grande qualité. Altenloh qui a été fournisseur de plusieurs cours royales européennes  avait à l'époque sa boutique sur la prestigieuse Place Royale de Bruxelles.

🇳🇱Mooie Lodewijk XIV-stijl plantenbak in massief 950% zilver van het beroemde Altenloh-huis (1878-heden) in Brussel. De plantenbak zonder binnenmand (messing) kan ook gebruikt worden om brood te presenteren of als fruitschaal. Het is een object van zeer hoge kwaliteit. Altenloh, leverancier van verschillende Europese koninklijke hoven had destijds zijn winkel op het prestigieuze Koningsplein in Brussel.
