Caster Louis XV, Brussels 1759, Henricus De Potter I, sterling silver

🇬🇧 Magnificent Louis XV period sprinkler with the City Hallmarks of Brussels and the famous master silversmith Henricus De Potter I. Its author was one of the greatest silversmiths in Brussels who, thanks to his longevity, left us a very large production of beautiful high quality silverware. Having become a master in 1725, he is best known for his production of objects in the Regency style which he produced between 1725 and 1750. They are all decorated with a magnificent engraving of lambrequins and mascarons so typical for Belgian goldsmiths of the second quarter  of the eighteenth century. Having worked until 1779, Henricus De Potter I, then embraced the Louis XV style with a certain virtuosity and this piece brilliantly testifies to this. If its fretel in exploded seed is still in the taste of the beginning of the century, the remainder of this big caster is in the purest rococo style. Its cover and baluster body are decorated with scrolls and rock patterns. With its 21 centimeters, it is quite large for the time. Inside the foot we find the striche or the trace of the silver te Sting and the four regulatory hallmarks of the city of Brussels.

🇫🇷 Magnifique saupoudroir d'époque Louis XV au poinçon de Bruxelles, du célèbre maître orfèvre Henricus De Potter I.
Ce dernier fut un des plus grands orfèvres bruxellois qui grâce à sa longévité nous laissa une très grande production de belles orfèvreries de haute qualité. Devenu maître en 1725, il est surtout connu pour sa production, entre 1725 et 1750, d'objets dans le style Régence, décorés de gravure de lambrequins et mascarons si typique pour l'orfèvrerie belge du deuxième quart du dix-huitième siècle .
Ayant travaillé jusqu'en 1779, Henricus De Potter I, embrassa en suite, avec une certaine virtuosité, le style Louis XV. Ce saupoudoir en témoigne avec brio. Si le fretel en graine éclatée est encore dans le goût du début du siècle, le restant de ce saupoudroir est dans le plus pure style rocaille.
Le couvercle et sle corps balustre son décorés de volutes et de motifs rocailles. 
A l'intérieur du pied on trouve la striche ou la trace de la prise d'argent et les quatre poinçons réglementaires de la ville de Bruxelles. Il est d'assez grande taille pour l'époque.
